The Associate Instructor is able to teach classroom lectures and teacch confined water without supervision, assist with open water training, and is qualified to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Certified and active SSI Associate Instructors are certified to conduct a limited number of SSI Specialty Courses for the following programs and issue certification independently:

• Equipment Techniques
• Underwater Photography
• Navigation
• Boat Diving
