They’re what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course.
The Adventure Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water.This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI instructor.
All the individual Specialty Dives are a brief introduction to each of the Specialty Diver Courses. The dive leader must inform the student that there is more to learn in each Specialty area and in order to be certified as a specialist is said area, hence increasing enrollment in Specialty courses etc.
The performed dives of the PADI Advanced diver course are credited towards all PADI Specialty Courses, at the instructor’s discretion, so that students will only have to complete all academics and the remaining dives to successfully finish the Specialty Diver rating.

The PADI Advanced Adventurer certification also entitles the student to accredit these dives towards other courses such as PADI Specialty Diver, SSI PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or SSI PADI Master Diver ratings.
It`s in the best interest of SSI Instructors and Dive Centers to promote the SSI Advanced Adventurer Diver and above as part of an integrated program of SSIthe diver Continuing Education. |
